TATE MODERNDiscover the extraordinary story of how Frida Kahlo became one of the most influential artists of all time, a cultural phenomenon, and an internationally recognized commercial icon. The exhibition will introduce her ‘many selves’ – the dedicated wife, the intellectual, the modern artist, and the political activist.
Alongside treasured garments, jewelry and memorabilia, the exhibit will feature 30 of her most iconic paintings in tandem with over 200 works by her contemporaries and artists she inspired from later generations, celebrating her lasting impact on those who continue to reimagine and reclaim her remarkable story.
THE BRITISH MUSEUMFor the first time since it was made nearly 1,000 years ago, the Bayeux Tapestry is returning to England. This monumental embroidery tells the dramatic story of a moment that changed England forever. One of the wonders of the medieval world, the Tapestry offers a vision of life in 11th-century England both before and after the Conquest.
Likely commissioned by a Norman patron and made by English embroiderers, using manuscript drawings from Canterbury, the Tapestry is both a precious historical record and a unique and remarkable work of art.
TATE BRITAINA truly global figure, Whistler re-wrote the rules of what it meant to be an artist. He pioneered new and innovative techniques, creating astonishingly beautiful, ethereal visions of modern life that would earn him a place as one of the most influential artists of the 19th and 20th centuries.
This retrospective brings together the artist’s world-famous paintings alongside rarely and never before seen works. It includes portraits, drawings, prints, and designs, from his teens in St. Petersburg to the enigmatic late self-portraits.
VICTORIA & ALBERT MUSEUMThe UK’s first exhibition on Elsa Schiaparelli spans the 1920s to today, exploring both the designer’s pioneering collaborations and the house’s contemporary revival under creative director Daniel Roseberry.
The exhibition features 100 ensembles and 50 artworks, including those by Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau and Man Ray, as well as accessories, jewelry, paintings, photographs and furniture. Dali's Lobster Telephone (1938) and the and the so-called 1937 Lobster dress that inspired it will also be on display.
NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERYIn celebration of the Hollywood star’s 100th birthday this exhibition will explore the life, career and legacy of Marilyn Monroe through portraits created by some of the greatest photographers and artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Bringing together works by Andy Warhol, Cecil Beaton, Inge Morath, Alfred Eisenstaedt and Richard Avedon, among many others the exhibition will foreground Monroe’s collaborative approach to image making and her creative agency. The exhibition will also include personal belongings to enrich understanding of the woman behind the image.
KEW GARDENSInteract with 30 monumental sculptures spanning the nearly 70-year career of Henry Moore, one of Britain’s most renowned artists. Set across Kew’s landscapes and botanical collections, the exhibition brings art and nature together on an extraordinary scale.
It offers an immersive journey through Moore’s lifelong exploration of the expressive power of the natural world. The setting allows the works to be experienced in dialogue with their surroundings, adding a different dimension to their scale and form.
